Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are used as immunotherapies for blood (liquid phase) cancers. These therapies have shown exceptional results against liquid tumors, but have not been effective for solid tumors.

My research in the Low-Nam lab seeks to understand how these engineered T cells are integrating activation signals at the single-cell, single-molecule level. One core question within our research is, “What is the minimum threshold of stimulation needed to activate CAR T cells?”
